DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The Woolooware Shores project involved the installation of a steel pedestrian bridge and concrete road bridge across a creek to link the existing Anglicare retirement village with the expansion of the retirement village across the adjacent creek. Due to the corrosive marine and tidal environment, the project required considered design and construction to ensure that all concrete and steelwork could withstand the difficult conditions. In order to facilitate the piling works within the creek area, two temporary working platforms were proposed along the length of each bridge to enable piling rig access. FCC engaged GHD to undertake a flood analysis study to investigate the potential impact that the construction of the two temporary platforms had on upstream flooding conditions. To ensure the safe construction of the two bridges, FCC worked with GHD and Morgan Moore to design a working platform solution that delivered the project on time and within budget.
