Wentworth Point Remediation
DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The remediation works on the proposed Wentworth Point Peninsula Park comprised a cap and contain remediation strategy on a 7.5ha brownfield site located on the sensitive Wentworth Point Parramatta River foreshore. The project is a landmark RMS development earmarked for a major development including open space parkland, major public marina and rowing club and commercial / retail precinct for the surrounding community.
FCC were tasked with the remediation of the early works footprint including in excess of 50,000m3 cut to fill earthworks within friable asbestos, heavy metal, hydrocarbon, tar and ash impacted fill materials. Additional works included placement of geofabric marker layer, installation of drainage layer and soft soil dewatering system along the future road corridor and construction of capping layer system to prevent infiltration of surface water from entering contaminated materials at the site.
