DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

The project was located directly on the Cumberland Highway, one of Sydney’s main roads and characterised as highly busy coupled with speed limits of up to 70km/h. Careful traffic management was involved throughout the project using RMS JJ Hook Barriers and reducing the speed limit to 40km/h for constructability. The project involved creating a new slip lane (90m long) into Smithfield RSL carpark. Service relocation of Telstra, TPG and level 1 electrical works required intricate liaison and planning with service authorities. Various design changes were implemented by RMS which affected overall programme, although Ford Civil managed to maintain the project on time and on budget with all stakeholders satisfied.
