DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Ford Civil delivered a missing link in the active transport connection from the Eastern Suburbs to the CBD, completing a 730m long separated and shared, bi-directional bicycle and pedestrian paths along the southern edge of Queens Park, Randwick.

The Park main access received a facelift through new exposed aggregate finish, and cobblestone pavement. The new cycleway will provide safer travel for pedestrians and bicyclists as well as improving traffic flow for vehicles on Darley Road and the associated road networks surrounding.

KEY FEATURES

• Design & Construct contract
• Demolition of concrete pathways, perimeter fencing, and hardscapes
• Existing utilities (incl. Telstra pits, Jemena Gas and Sydney Waters service lines) shifted or raised to accommodate the new cycleway alignment
• Installation of concrete retaining walls, coupled with aluminium balustrading.
• Park access improvement via construction of BCA approved ramps and stairs
• Reconfiguration of parking spaces along Darley Road
• Installation of appropriate linemarking and signage along the shared path
• Planting, and turfing including the planting of strategically chosen species of tree
• Additional street furniture including seats, and bicycle hoops
