Joynton & Zetland Avenue
Joynton & Zetland Avenue
DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
Along Joynton Avenue, Ford Civil have been engaged by the City of Sydney to raise the road surface up to 1.8m above the existing surface level. This work required the importation of 11,000 tonnes of VENM fill in 3 stages with Complex Staging of Traffic Management in order for 2 lanes of traffic to be maintained at all times.
Ford Civil have managed continuous and complex community and stakeholder liaising throughout the duration of this project to ensure their requirements are heard and met. Works also required close coordination with service authorities, communications, electrical, hydraulic and deep stormwater contractors.
On Zetland Avenue, Ford Civil constructed a new road in the Green Square/Zetland precinct designed to service the newly constructed Aquatic Centre as well as other future developments. Similar to Joynton Avenue, works required close coordination between Ford Civil, relevant service authorities and specialist subcontractors in order to ensure the project remained on-time and within budget.
Much of the area within the scope of Ford Civil’s Joynton and Zetland Avenue project was highly contaminated, with construction activities including removal of asbestos contaminated soils and installation of a new marker layer.
