DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Ford Civil have delivered a continuous foreshore promenade around the Glebe Peninsula extending over 2.2km from Bicentennial Park in the west to Bridge Road in the east. It included the construction of a manmade beach and mangrove colony on Rozelle Baya and involved the rehabilitation of Bicentennial Park and Blackwattle Bay Park extending through Glebe Point on to Blackwattle Bay.

The Glebe foreshore walkway has been constructed in several stages since 2004 and the final stage is a new 300m walkway from Ferry Road to Bridge Road. The new link allows walkers and cyclists to pass behind the Sydney Secondary College at Blackwattle Bay and provides easier access to Wentworth Park and the Sydney Fish Market.

The project was seen as a resounding success by all stakeholders and was awarded the Civil Contractors Federations (CCF) NSW Earth Awards first prize for projects between $5 and $20 million in 2007.
