BARTON PARK
RECREATIONAL PRECINCT
DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
In March 2024, Ford Civil proudly completed the Barton Park Recreational Precinct Project for Bayside Council. Situated in Banksia, this significant enhancement has transformed what was once a former landfill site (approximately 12 hectares) into a new open-space recreational hub along the Rockdale Wetlands Corridor, providing new walking and cycling connections to the growing populations of Arncliffe, Rockdale, and Banksia. Given the heavy pedestrian and cyclist use of the area, one of the major milestones was to construct a 520m long elevated FRP decking shared path seamlessly connecting to the Barton Park Pedestrian Bridge, previously completed in November of 2022 by Ford Civil.
The new sporting precinct features three full-sized football pitches, four tennis courts, two multipurpose sports courts, new clubhouses, amenities blocks, a grandstand with tiered seating, as well as newly designed playground areas and 10,000m2 parking spaces and internal roads. The Barton Park Recreational Precinct is poised to offer the Bayside Council community increased opportunities for participation in a diverse range of sports, leisure, and recreational activities.
