DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

Ford Civil were engaged by the Bayside Council for the construction of the Barton Park Footbridge. The following were the distinct works completed for this project’s successful execution: After an efficient site establishment, screw piles were installed using a 30T excavator with a special attachment. Screw piles were cut off to insert a transverse steel connection which was then included within the concrete abutment. After the abutments were prepared and blinded, they were formed and poured conventionally. Following concrete curing, the barebones bridge was craned in using a mobile crane and was installed during the night to minimise disruption. FRP decking was used to meet the council’s specifications for a minimum of 20 years of maintenance.

The bridge has brought much delight to the residents and cyclists who look forward to utilising the bridge for recreation and their daily commute.
